Comformation lists?

here's a list of things i think i'd want in a horse(conformation wise). please let me know if it's too much(wanting the horse to be too perfect) or if i should change anything (take it off or add it).

1. rather have a short neck then long neck.

2.sloping shoulder.

3.long back. (for smoother gate/easier lead changes)

4.well-sprung ribs (shape of the horse's ribs/body)

5. legs good conformation in general-i'm still trying to understand exactly what are a must for this, more reading for me tonight.

use for the horse(one possible use, but it's just to give a starting point):

i'm wanting to start of with just trail riding then when i have more time move on to endurance riding, but i know b/c conformation plays a big part is how well a horse does any sport, i wanted to come up with a list...but not one that'd make it impossible/roll out every horse out there.Comformation lists?
No you have a good list and there are a lot of horses that would fit all of the things in your list. You know what you are looking for so you don't have to decide later this is very good. How ever I think the shorter backed horses are easyer to ride they have a smaller middle with the longer backed horses the middle is larger and you will usually bounce around. I know this probley dosn't make since but if you want a smoother ride i would get the shorter backed horse. Good luck finding your PERFECT match!!!! Horses can be a girls best friend mine sure is my best friend!!!

P.S. If you get a shorter bodied horse it is ok for the short neck but on a longer bodied horse the neck needs to be longer or the horse will not be balanced and that would be a conformational flaw.Comformation lists?
I think that the list is very good and its not to much to look for because there are lots of horses out there that fit all of your requirments. The only thing is if you want to do endurance or something that takes a lot of stamia i would look for a longer neck. this is beacuse if you find a horse with a short neck and a long body it may be harder for it to get balanced if you start going on hills in endurance races. The longer neck will help balance out the horse a little bit more if you do start in endurance. I hoped that this has helped you a little. Good luck finding that one horse!!
No, I don't think that's too much. Ur just looking for that perfect horse for u and know what u want. That should actually make it EASIER because u know exactly what ur looking for.

Good luck! I hope u find this horse!! =]
I don't think anything is too much. You want your horse to be sound, healthy and be able to perform the dicipline you do. The better conformation they have the better chance of you getting that.
Your llist is more than reasonable, although if you added the legs it would be longer. I question your reasoning on wanting a long back? Neither a smoother gait nor easy lead changes are tied into a long back. A shorter back means stronger loins which makes collection easier, and that makes lead changes easier. Unless all you will do with the horse is light trail riding, this is a conformation flaw.
A calm eye is my first prioritory for a pleasure horse.

And you're right, my dad always said it cost as much to feed a good horse as a bad horse. Happy hunting for your new horse, best of luck :)
