I changed majors twice in community college. The good news was that I was focused on completing my general ed. classes and not getting too specific into my major. Once I had decided on my new major and what school I really wanted to transfer to, I was able to take two of the required classes for that 4 year major (at U.C. Santa Barbara) and get them done at community college (Santa Barbara City College). On the downside, changing from Business to Communication did lead to needing to take some different classes than I had planned on. In the end, I took 3 years at Community College instead of 2. But, now that its 16 years later... it was worth it. Best decision of my life, I followed my passion. And I'm glad I did.

The people before me have already explained for low cost spring guns (which usually don't have the internal strength to survive upgrades). If you are upgrading a AEG you should ask you're self a few questions before continuing



1)are you mechanically inclined, because you may need to enjoy time spent troubleshooting you're problems (shimming is a really B****)

2)Do you have metal bushings? If you have a TM then you wouldn't and need to get metal bushings (make sure you have the right size)

3) are you willing to cut down the lifespan of that gearbox (which are repairable) to gain the 50 FPS?

No simple answer. You'll have to grab a screwdriver and start dismantling your weapon. You can't just put the weapon and the spring into a bag and shake it real well.



Start taking parts off one by one and laying them in a semi circle around you on the table. Remember hwo you took each off. When you get to the main spring, you'll know you've arrived. Reassemble in reverse order.



If you're not mechanically inclined, you'll probably want to get someone who is to do the work for you.

it's not too hard of a thing to do. i assume you've got your gun apart? if not just take out all of the screws on the outside to take the case apart then remove the spring (should be easy, their usually pretty exposed) and put the new one on. keep track of all the pieces parts that you take out and you *may* need to trim down the spring so it's the right size. then just slip the spring on and reassemble the gun





any advice out side of that would be to go look around in airsoft forums or on googel for instructions on how to dissassemble and upgrade you'r particular gun.

First, disabuse yourself of the notion that you're going to ';get'; the One True Interpretation of this poem, and allow yourself to look at it from several angles, to experience it, to *become* the poem. If you can do that, you're well ahead of me, because I only have one interpretation of this poem that I refuse to immerse myself into because it would overwhelm me. But here's something to think about, straight from my brain to teh interwebz where it becomes the property of Yahoo! probably:



Opening lines are important; they set the tone or the scene or whatever smart people call it. And here, you have a tree (lower case), or what the poet refers to as a ';spine'; after a fire, and she likens it to strawberries (red...fire...see?) that have been not just decimated by cooking, but also made beautiful. So you see, this tree that has been shredded by a lightning strike, though it's no longer a full, bushy tree, home to snakes and squirrels and perhaps even a source of shade for the elk, is still beautiful, though perhaps humans and animals both wouldn't recognize that, and neither would the tree itself.



And that's a lot like human nature. Sometimes we go through things that shatter us, make us feel less of who we are, and we don't recognize that as a new beginning, or that our new form has its own beauty.



I mean, I'm not academic or anything, so that's just IMHO what it might be about.



But also think that there's another perspective going on here. We the reader aren't really the tree, exactly, are we? Don't answer that攊t's rhetorical. I wish I knew what rhetorical meant. It sounded right. I like funny-looking words.



Anyway, it seems as though we have a witness to this lightning strike, several in fact (the ';us'; in line 10, in particular the ';my face'; in line 13). This tree has been crystalized, spinal-ized, but it is not alone, because whatever ';tragedy'; has befallen the tree (though the poet does not take the point of view that this *is* tragedy) has affected at least two onlookers, because ';us'; means more than one. It could be like a thousand, I don't know. If I was smart I could give you a number down to the eighth decimal.



The point is, this tree seems isolated攂ut is it really? Is it alone, and is what happened to it only of consequence to the tree? And what do you suppose is the reaction of the person in the doorway? Initially maybe fright at the lightning strike, then awe at the power of nature, then shock at the damage done, then sadness at the loss of a tree, then maybe even more awe at how the tree is still beautiful, perhaps terribly so.



Keep in mind as well, that this act of transforming, or being forcibly transformed, and witnessing these transformations, and fleeing them or being awed by them...are all natural. Lightning finds the path of least resistance, and trees, being tall, are often that path (tall things often get the short end of the stick...ha ha I made a pun! But no seriously, be nice to tall people; they get hit by more than lightning, you know LOW FLYING BALLOONS!).



So what you have here is (maybe, perhaps) an idea that we often feel that we are alone in our pain, our struggle; but really we're not. And just as often we have to bear defeat and tragedy for others, and adjust our own lives accordingly, but NONE OF THIS is unnatural. And when you bring yourself to realize that your own ';lightning strike'; may frame someone else's face (so to speak), then you understand that what we go through is both isolated and communal, both terrible and refreshing攁nd a lot of other pairs of words, yadda yadda, I'm getting tired of typing.

Have the torsion bar cranked on it. Just make sure you have the alignment re-checked once you've done this. This will level the height off the truck and remove the racked look.

Spring helpers dont work. New springs may add an inch or so. I assume this is a 2 wheel truck. On a 4 wheel truck you can adjust the torsion bar. Still wont add the distance you require.
Buy a front end leveling kit, look in a summit catalog.

just take off the 4 ubolts, then the spring bolts at each end.. chances are youll probably have to cut them off. then reinstall. your going to need new ubolts since they have to be a lot shorter getting rid of the block. theres a bunch of companys that make 6 inch lift springs, skyjacker, trail master, rough country, etc.

average shops cost around 80-100 an hour.. and trust me it is more then an hour to do springs and shocks.. your car is front wheel drive and has IRS (Independent Rear Suspension) so it should all have McFearson Struts (Coil Overs)

You can do it yourself, but you will need a spring compressor to do. For my tc, to have eibach springs, new shocks, and sway bars mounted it was $500. It will vary depending where you live. If you live in a colder climate, most performance shops are a little slow so maybe you can get a deal.

Changing the valvesprings will not make any difference in horsepower by itself...If the new ones are stiffer it may allow you to rev the engine higher before experiencing valvefloat.



Valvefloat is when the valvesprings are unable to move the valves fast enough to keep up with the cam/lifters..either the springs are too weak or the engine is being revved too high...that is why going to a stiffer spring may increase your rev limit somewhat .How much horse power will you have?
a lot of good points made here. You would probably end up with slightly less power due to frictional loss. Also, and probably most important, The cam was not designed to hold that much spring pressure and may cause premature lobe wear. I realize that these are not huge springs, but every part of the valve-train needs to be matched up to give max power.



Valve float might be best described and the failure of the spring to control valve motion. This can be from a number of factors such as excessive rpm, weak springs, mis-matched valve train parts, etc. Float does not only occur at max lift. With improper parts, the valve can also bounce off of the seat.
Um 5000 horsepower and 300 camel power actually. The trick is to float the...cams is it? and um..jumpstart the oilchange.
Will be exactly the same, as you didn't change the cam. Lobe, lift and duration is the same, even if you mput stronger springs on it.
Believe silverstang. He's right. So is baalberth to a degree. Valve float is a condition where the rotational speed of the camshaft and its related components create a force larger than the Valve springs can counteract. Thus your valves never fully open nor close at the valve float point. Because they never fully close, you loose compression and subsequently horsepower. To fix valve float you install stiffer valve springs. But as silverstang suggests, if you put stiffer springs on the same cam you still have the same horsepower, due the cams specifications being the same as before you changed springs. The only time this might not be true is in a very high mileage engine where the valve springs have weakened prematurely.

valve float is when the piston moves fast enough to get to the top of the stroke before the valve closes, thus hitting the valve. this happens at high RPM, tougher valve springs fix the problem.
You can actually figure it out mathematically if you have all the data, however putting it on the dyno is smarter unless you're a physics/mechanical or a mathematical genius.

P. S. hint: refer to conversion tables available for some motors in shops that sell modifications.

If you have to ask a question like that, you shouldn't even think about doing it yourself. Do you have a spring compressor? Probably not. You are going to hurt yourself if you try to take the strut apart from the coil spring. Take it to a shop.

Here's something to think about before you start - changing a front spring is a potentially FATAL thing to do if you're not completely careful. Even a slightly compressed spring houses a significant amount of energy, and if it is accidentally released, it has the potential to put a hole through a cinder block wall - imagine that heading at your body.



That being said, the procedure is not that difficult with the right tools - including a good spring compressor (some auto parts stores will rent these tools out, or loan them for free).



You basically jack up the vehicle, place a second jack under the lower frame, put in the spring compressor, and remove the spindle. I just realized - you are working on a fwd vehicle, correct? You have to deal with that, and you should find out the specifics on that by purchasing a proper repair manual. Once you can free the spindle from the frames, you lower the jack and pull the spring with the compressor attached. The reverse is fairly easy.



Remember, if your vehicle has a strut with the spring on it, you have to pull that whole thing with the strut attached, and that is a job I wouldn't recommend to any driveway warrior!
i myself dont think they are hard to change.You will need a spring compresser.For someone who has never changed them before it may take some time.If you have some of the basic tools and some common sense you can do it.Im sure once you had the struts removed a garage would remove and install the spring onto the struts.
if your going to change the springs then you might as well change the struts too. to change the springs you will need a set of J-HOOKS to compress the springs. there is a big nut on top, take it off but watch yourself taking it off because there is pressure on the spring. after you get the spring off, take the J-HOOKS and compress the new springs, put them down over the struts and put the plate on top with the nut. tighten the nut as tight as you can get it and then take off the compressor. i just got through changing the back springs on the back of my oldsmobile. even though they are separate from the struts they were a bear changing. i did,nt have J-HOOKS but i wish i did at the time.
very hard you have a macphersion style front suspension ill bet. simply put you pull that assembly off and take it in to have the spring removed from the strut and then reinstall a good one and reinstall that assembly.

I drive to work 5 days a week in a 5 year old car with less than 34000 miles on it. I don't use much gas. I'd take public transportation if there was any available to take.
If public transportation were available, I would definitely take that as a mode of transportation. However, where there is public transportation here, it is too dangerous to ride because of molestation and robbery while on the bus, train, or whatever. I think instead of worrying what our children eat at school at lunch, buses should be taken out of the school system and children could get their exercise by walking home from school, as I and all of my friends did. Way back when, of course.

Front leg amputation?

Does anyone know about front leg amputation? I have a five month old kitten that I've named Oliver. I got him as an 8 year anniversary present from my girlfriend from the animal shelter. We went and picked him out together about two months ago. When we talked to the staff there they told us the heart breaking story of him. He was found in the cold winter of Wisconsin outside, with a broken front right leg but, it had mended itself and his wiskers were cut but, he was looking alot better when we saw him. We took him home with us that day. We took him to our vet the next day and he has been with us since. He started to limp on his right leg about a week ago but, here in Wisconsin the weather is changing to spring so we thought that it maybe the weather and that with humans you know how your bones hurt when you break something?? Well, it just wasn't getting better so I took Oliver into our vet and he took x-rays of his front legs. His left leg is perfect. His right elbow is crushed. At five months old Oliver already is 9 pounds and the vet said that he thinks that Oliver is going to be a very big cat when he is an adult. The vet gave us two things that we can do for him and those are amputation of his right front leg or to fuse the bones together and have his leg stiff. We are leaning towards amputation but, we are just not sure. Does anyone have anything to say on the subject? The only reason that we were leaning towards amputation is that we think that if, you would land on something that was stiff right out in front of you wouldn't that hurt more than not having something there? We just don't know. Oh, I just don't know what to do...Front leg amputation?
I went with amputation. You are right, a stiff leg will actually restrict your cat's natural life and activity more than having a missing limb. I remember one of my cats trying to walk, let alone run, without tripping all over himself when he had a splinted leg after an injury -- it really stressed him.



My cat McBuff had his hind leg amputated. It didn't take long for him to adapt very, very well -- he's 17 now, but you wouldn't believe how fast he could move with only one back leg when he was a youngster! -- and he didn't have a stiff leg to get in the way of jumping, running, squatting in the litterbox. He is showing signs of joint stress now, but as I said, he's 17. A missing front leg is actually easier on a cat than a rear one, so I don't foresee any major issues.



Good luck, and I am sure losing the leg will be an easier and far better adjustment than a stiff leg. A stiff leg he will know is there...he won't realize the leg is gone.



ADDED: If the leg is stiff, your cat will likely start walking/running with it out to the side and you run the risk of shoulder dislocation on a regular basis.Front leg amputation?
It can be a tough decision for you. The problem will come up later in the cat's life as he will probably have arthritis pain in the injured leg.



Apparently animals do very well with only three legs. Ask the vet is losing a front leg is better than a back one. Since Oliver is young he can adapt better now than he would later on in life.



I do hope you will have him be an indoor cat if he has only three legs. He might enjoy going for walks with you on a leash.

Amputate. When I was a child we had a lab that got hit by a car. The elbow never healed right, and he had a lot of trouble running, and like Suzy said, he was always dislocating his shoulder. My parents finally had the leg amputated and he was a lot happier and friskier and still was a great Frisbie catcher and swimmer. It took no time for the amputation to heal, but I remember it seemed like forever for his leg to heal, and he couldn't swim and labs love to swim.
My baby had bone cancer almost 2 years ago and had his right front leg and shoulder removed. He was up and walking on three legs eight hours later. He spent 3 days in the hospital recovering and had a pain patch for 10 days. We went back and forth to the vet for a few weeks after. The first weekend home was hell on earth. After that Taffy got used it and adjusted his walking to walk easily. He puts his left front leg in the middle similar to a tripod. We have to be careful with his weight and put more effort in playing time to ensure he has at least one hour of exercise a day. For me it was remove the leg or he would have died in days. I'm very happy we did it and Taffy is a very happy little boy. Be aware though personality changes may occur do to the trauma of the surgery, hospital and such. But talk it over with the vet. How much does a good winter of training help you for track and field?

Last year when I was a freshman, I hadn't trained all winter and I ended up running a 4:42 mile and a 2:09 800m. This winter, I've been running regularly, and I plan to peak at 50 miles a week over the winter. I also run one long run and one tempo a week. Will this have any significant changes come spring or is it just a matter of a second or two. Also, I cut my mileage back every 3 weeks. For example, I will run 50 minutes a day for a week, then 60 minutes the next, then back to 40 minutes the 3rd. I find it's a break from ';high mileage'; (yes I know 50 miles a week isn't very high) and it also allows me to increase the speed on my runs naturally.How much does a good winter of training help you for track and field?

So recently I just got Animal Crossing City Folk (the cover actually says 'Lets go to the City')

Anyway I love the game and I was wondering if anybody has some tips for me! The game has just changed to spring and ive caught 14 types of fish and only five bugs including a Pill Bug which i randomly found!

I wanted to know how do I catch the Pill Bug again because i gave it away straight after i caught it and i only dug a hole and it popped out!

What is wrong with my 1999 honda recon 4 wheeler?

I havent messed with it for awhile but now am looking to find out what is wrong with it. If lucky enough to get it to run it dies when given more throttle.This 4 wheeler has to have less than 3 or 400 hrs on it as I bought it brand new mainly for hunting. 98% of the time it stayed in a barn only to be used during hunting season. I havent been able to get it to run for about 5 years probly. I do notice that the throttle spring is bent weird some how .I changes the spring out and it didnt make a difference. Also the choke does nothing it seems. The carb was cleaned once or twice in past but did no difference. I would like to fix the prob myself and avoid $76+ an hour fee the bike shops want to charge because they think their hands are made of gold. Some suggestions you might try are. Checking the fuel filter. Checking to be sure that the fuel lines are not gummed up coming out of the tank. If it has a float make sure it is not stuck.

How often should i change orchid bark?

i recently purchased a young orchid and it is doing very well and still blooming. i water it every two weeks. i was looking at the roots and it seems most are at the top of the pot, is this normal?



i was also wondering how often i should change the orchid's bark. it seems as if the bark on the bottom of the pot is decomposing a little bit, but it generally all looks like its still intact. do i need to change the bark this spring? how long should i wait?

Any time you purchase a new orchid, you should pop it out of it's pot and inspect the roots for health and bark for decomposition. If it is in bloom and the roots are firm and either white or tannin brown (from the bark), yet firm, you can wait until the flowers fade, then repot. If the roots are black, squishy, cut the flower stalk off and repot. Watering every two weeks may be o.k., but you should get used to the weight of the pot when dry and when wet to determine when to water. Most epiphytic orchids grown in bark need good air circulation around the roots and the bark needs to approach dry before watering again. When you water, do it heavily and allow the pot to drain. Orchids take their water and nutrients through the roots. The actual root is a thin wire like strand within the spongy outer coating called velamin. Velamin acts as a sponge to grab any and all moisture it can to hold for intake from the root. The roots cannot take water directly from their surroundings, therefore, a root that has lost it's velamin cannot function.



You should try to find out what general alliance the plant belongs to. You can get much info on its care if you know it's alliance. Orchids vary greatly in their needs depending on their alliance.How often should i change orchid bark?

ADHD and was prescribed Strattera and Zoloft - Developed Severe Side Effects!?

Okay I didn't know how to word this ';question';.. Basically let me explain to you my situation. Maybe there are some more out there who have had similar experiences.



I was diagnosed with ADHD at a young age but did not require medication during school. I didn't get great grades.. mostly low B's, occasional A's and C's. I was a kid who did whatever was needed to get by and nothing more.



I got to college and took 12 hours my first semester. I did fairly well and got a 3.6 GPA. I was happy and became confident that ADHD wouldn't effect me academically. In the spring, I carried 16 hours of very heavy classes. I also held a job - that I loved - and put a lot into while playing a varsity sport. I am used to being busy but something changed that spring. I became extremely emotional. I was extremely uncomfortable talking to people and became choked up very easily. I experienced depression for no reason. I began to miss class and avoid social situations. I procrastinated more than I have ever done. I was irritable. I began to forget how to cope with ADHD and school.. or maybe I never learned in the first place? I quit playing my sport. All the while, I excelled at my job and it became my distraction.



If you know about ADHD or you have it, then you know that it doesn't mean you can't be good at something. Normally, we become obsessed with one thing like a perfectionist. But we can't handle anything else. I ended my spring semester failing two classes, passing one with a B (luckily this professor knew me well), and receiving a C in a class that I did as little as possible to get by.



I was never like that before. I knew I had attention problems but I was able to deal with them and they didn't affect my life. ADHD was now ruining my life. I am not a lazy person and I am very passionate about going to school and getting my degree.



I sought help to treat my ADHD and decided to start medication at the start of the fall semester. I was prescribed Stratterra 40 mg and Zoloft 100mg. The first two to three weeks are a fog. I was very lethargic and yawned constantly. I slept every chance I got. Then once I became used to the medication. I then began to see a lot of changes in my mood. Somedays I would wake up and be almost ';slap-happy'; and not have a care in the world. Other days I would wake up extremely stressed to the point where I would experience panic attacks and would think I was going to die or needed to be taken to the hospital. I became obsessed with suicide. Luckily, I was always level minded about this subject and have a strong faith in God - I didn't get to the point where I actually tried to commit suicide. I knew I didn't want to die but each day my thoughts would turn to the ways I could kill myself. I never made a formal plan but still my mind wandered to my death. It was extremely scary. I turned into an almost manic person. I would experience days of extreme energy where I thought I could do anything. I felt ';stronger'; and needed to release this. I couldn't even carry a conversation in these state because my mind was running extremely fast. I also experienced extreme dizziness and nausea. I couldn't ride in cars because I became so motion sick. I began to complain of lots of ';ailments'; - normal things or common illnesses just seemed to be magnified. I started to hear voices and see figures out of the corners of my eyes. I would fear I was being followed or someone was standing behind me. And my ADHD was still there. I had no concentration, I couldn't think clearly enough to organize or plan effectively, I had bad mood swings, I fidgeted constantly..



I became so frustrated with my state that I just didn't want to do it anymore. It was so tiring. The only thing I enjoyed was sleep because in my dreams I could feel at ease. I made a horrible MISTAKE in 1.) Never developing the right coping mechanisms for my ADHD 2.) Not allowing myself to take a break and adjust medication - treatment for ADHD is trial-and-error. I was stupid to think that I could take a pill and it would solve my problem. ADHD will always be there and hopefully some medication will help me ';manage'; my issues in planning, organizing, etc. But it will not solve everything. 3.) This medication put me into a worse state than I sought help for in the first place. I need to allow myself time to find the medication that works and make sure it doesn't give side effects that turn me into a obsessed with suicide, crying, slap-happy, apathetic, and delusional manic.



So my question.. Does anyone have similar stories to mine? Or can you just give me some advice on how I can manage? I never took the time to learn what ADHD was meant. But now that I have started to learn - many things that I was uncomfortable about or confused about in childhood make sense to me. I'm going to embrace my ADHD and realize that medication can only do so much..ADHD and was prescribed Strattera and Zoloft - Developed Severe Side Effects!?

Also, those drugs are not benign, over long term use, it has been proven to cause neurological permanent brain damage to hormonal nerve receptors in the brain.

Stress does suck the B12 right out of the body and it can cause lethargy, so start with understanding that something as simple as that can help, too.

that sound kind of waird she should just leave him alone, if he likes her hell call her, becouse I can't tell if he needs space, if his doing other stuff or if he whants noting to do with her, maybe his move on, so move on and if he come back take it slow. i have had my tippmann model 98 for 6 years know and i previously went to sc village and i went to get my gun chronozed and it was barely making 200 how do i make my gun get up to 280? i was told that changing the spring will fix this problem is this true?thanksTippmann model 98 help?
With the 98 Custom there is a screw just past the last ';N'; in Tippmann. With the right size Allen wrench turn it left the velocity goes up, and turn it right to lower the velocity.



Things that also affect the velocity is how full your tank is. Also with C02 if the tank is cold, for example you are shooting a lot or the weather outside is cold it will affect the velocity of the marker.



To solve this problem of the changing velocity due to the C02, I'd suggest that you switch to using Compressed Air. The Tippmann 98 Custom can use both C02 and Compressed airTippmann model 98 help?
Well if you are using co2 and its cold out its your dam co2 tank. Co2 is crap and when its cold the pressure is low and you wont get your marker velocity that high. And in the summer when its hot the pressure will be high and you will have trouble keeping your velocity down.



Other then that yes the spring kit will help push up your velocity. Change out to a stiffer spring and the velocity will go up. Its a cheap and easy way to push your velocity up higher or lower by changing out the spring behind the rear hammer. You can buy a spring kit for about $6 on ebay.
Find the allen wrench(es) that came with your marker. There is a velocity screw to the right and below the last ';n'; in Tippmann. Turn it to the right to make it go in and therefore make it more powerful. Also make sure your CO2 is filled up.

I have a 1984 3/4 Ton, same door hinge, you will have to remove hinge from door and body to replace spring. You can either remove door (which is best) or block up door to remove, after replacing be sure to set hinge back into same position for proper alignment.

If you go to your local parts store chain, they have a tool that collapses the spring so you can put it in place...Most of these stores will rent tools..Which only means you pay a deposit and when you bring the tool back, you get all your money back..



Anyway, with the tool it is easy...Without the tool, you can pry it in there..But, I would not advise it...There is alot of pressure on the spring...But, again, removing the door, will not do anything for you...How do I change the door hinge spring on an 85 chevy pickup? examine the hinge carefully after looking at it you should be able to do it yourself. If you need more help your Chevy dealership or auto parts will have a detailed illustration on how to replace this spring.
I did this on my 1985 GMC pickup and it is simple but use your common since to begin with.



The hinges are bolted on and the most that you will need is either a jack stand, floor jack, piece of wood and be careful.



Get the tool from the auto parts store, collapse the spring. remove the old spring, install the new spring and re-tighten all bolts, it is that simple.



One at a time, mark the old hinges just for reference on the door and after you are finished you will most likely need to adjust it for a better fit but you are done and do not remove the door.

the kyb agx struts and shocks are great, but if the rest of the suspension will be stock, its not really worth the extra $. i would get monroe sensatrac struts, should be 100$ each for the front, 60$ for the rear, you are gonna want to change the upper mount bearings at the same time, will not add to the labour charge, and are relativly cheap.

And as with the time changes, it also means a couple-few weeks for our bodies to adjust to the sleep changes and also for our internal body clocks to 'reset' to the new time we will be on. Gee, it sure would be a lot easier if they just dropped this time change stuff.

ADVANCED FISH OWNERS PLEASE HELP! High ammonia level in fish tank.. what to do and can I mix these products?

I just started keeping fish 2 weeks ago and set up this aquarium then.. I added 3 fish after I let the aquarium run for a bit, then 3 more the next week.. this is week 3 for my aquarium. I have 2 cory catfish, a balloon molly, and 2 mystery snails. The fish that died was a red wag platy (RIP Tipton).



Anyway:



One of my poor fish died last night.. I went to the pet store and got my water tested, and the ph level was a bit low, which the person I talked to said it couldn't kill my fish.. but the ammonium level was on the highest notch of the testing strip! I talked to another fish owner/associate and she said I should do a 30% water change with spring water, then put API Ammo-lock in my water, rinse out my filter cartridge with warm water, and then test the water later to check for the ammonia. I just finished rinsing out the cartridge really well, changed 30% of the water with the three gallons of spring water (treated it with tap water safety stuff just in case), and put in the Ammo-lock. The fish seem to be more lively now.



I was looking through my aquarium packets and stuff and found this packet of stuff I didn't know had came with the kit I bought. It's API Stress-Zyme. Should I use this stuff too? I really want to make sure that no more of my fish die. And how long should I wait to test the water for ammonium again? Also, if you have gone through this before, please tell me what you did to help your fish asap! I feel so guilty that my fish died and I cried like 3 times today about it. It all has to do with allowing the cycle to be set up in the tank. This is very common.

Your friend gave you fairly good advice. The only bad bit could be the part about rinsing the filter, but it can help as long as you rinse it in tank-temp water, or tank water removed for a water change. This allows you to remove much of the waste that can contribute to ammonia, but keep the bacteria colony mostly in tact. You do not want to rinse in hot water. ';Warm'; wasn't that bad of advice and didn't do much harm, if any.



Water changes are your first and best defense to keeping the fish alive and well.



Also, the pH was low because of the high ammonia. Leave the pH alone as lower pH is safer in this case.



With ammonia problems, test daily. Do water changes if elevated, 30-50% water changes.



It will be a battle for a month or two, but things will get easier.



You'll get varied advice from all sorts of people, many of it contradictory.





Some notes: Many aquarium cycling products can be nice, but actually have some ammonia in them to feed the bacteria, or dead bacteria because they had no food or air. So don't use any in this case as it will most likely just compound the ammonia problem.



Tips to speed up cycling:

1) Leave the lights on longer than usual. Not all the time because you don't want to stress the fish, but longer helps.



2) Add lots of cascading to the water and surface movement. This give the bacteria lots of surface room to enter the tank. DON'T rinse out your filter cartridge!



Your tank has started the nitrogen cycle, as part of this process the ammonia WILL spike and yes it kills fish. Hence way many people suggest either cloning filters from existing tanks or fishless cycling!



The reason I say leave your filter cartridge be is that is where the good bacteria is starting to grow - replacing or rinsing this out will just keep your nitrogen cycle in square one, never allowing it to progress. You NEED this bacteria to grow to such numbers it eats up ammonia and converts it to less toxic nitrates via nitrites.



Don't keep adding chemicals, it won't help. Have a good long read of this!

When you cycle a tank with fish, yes there will be fatalities!
OK, main problem, too many fish added to a new tank. Ammonia from their waste builds up, you have no working nitrogen cycle to process this ammonia, so it will kill your fish. Unless you get rid of it by other means.



Easiest way, water changes, lots of water changes, BIG ones. 30% water changes leave 70% of the ammonia in the tank, OK it's an improvement, but it's still deadly. Do 50%, as often as you need, maybe 2 the first day. Just use tap water with conditioner. Get that ammonia level lowered.



You can use ammo-loc as well, it will not remove ammonia, but it makes it less toxic to the fish, so it will help.



Then just keep doing water changes as needed to keep the ammonia low until the tank cycles. Leave the filter media alone unless it actually becomes blocked up, thats where the bacteria are going to be growing. If it gets blocked up, rinse it out with old tank water, otherwise leave the bacteria to multiply in peace.



You can save your fish, it will be a bit of work changing water, but there is no magic product that will instantly help. They simply need clean water and time for the tank to cycle.

1. DONT rinse your filter cartridge, you will kill any healthy bacteria you have!



2. DONT use ammo-lock, it will stop the natural nitrate cycle and make the problem sorse in the long run!



3. You will probably lose more fish, sorry. but thats what you get for not properly cylcling the tank in the first place.



4. Get a test kit - they are about 30$, but you will need one if you want your fish to live (or you could just let them die and start over)



5. Test the water, do a 25% water change (tap water is fine). The next day do the same, everytime the ammonia is high, do a 35% water change. When the ammonia is low you will begin to experience high nitrites, which are also deadly to fish. Continue testing daily and do a 25% when either the nitrites or ammonia is high. It will take at least a month for the levels to reach safety.



6. Read up on the aquarium cycle (nitrogen cycle - google it) this will inform you of what you did wrong and help you to understand how to fix it. This is all happening because you do not have a sufficient amount of healthy bacteria in the tank, most people don't cycle with fish, they use other decomposing matter.



7. Get some healthy bacteria, there are products out there, but hte best wya is to get a filter media or some gravel from an established tank.
well done you just killed all the ammonia detoxifying bacteria by rinsing out the cartridge. Always research online and in books before asking at the petshop. How big is your tank and what exact fish do you have in it? I am skeptical about the effectiveness of ammo-lock and stress zyme but there is no harm in using them.
This is because you added three fish. you should add 1-2 hardy fish and cycle it for around 6 weeks untill no ammonia or nitrite is present.



Woooo you rinsed out the filter cartridge? ammonia is broken down with bacteria (found in the treatments you have and natrally occurs) washing the filter is a no no. you want it to mature. so only slighly clean it in water you've taken out. ammonia will be present in a new tank butcos you have so many fish it will be at a higher level. dont over change your water. do around 30% each week probs take some fish back and once its sorted go to 30% every other week. dont replace the filter sponge just use old tank water. although you do replace carbon every 2 months.your corys will probably die. you can overdose the stress zyme wihtout any bad effects.

i assume you already using a dechlorinator.



once the ammonia goes down the nitrite will go up (also poisonous) then the nitrite will go and nitrate will appear this is used up by plants and you can have upto 40ppm of this. once the ammonia and nitrite are gone it shouldnt come back unless you overstock or overfeed or dont maintain your filter correctly.

First thing you did wrong, is rinse out the filter cartridge in tap water. That is a number one no-no.

All of the beneficial bacteria, which is made by fishless cycling or filter cloning, lives in there. The chemicals in tap water, which kill fish, also kill these good guys.



You also have added far too many fish. If you changed 30% of the water, which was 3 gallons, then I assume your tank is around 9-10 gallons. That's really small in the greater scheme of things, and really can't hold anywhere near what you have added. Well at least not that fast.



What you needed to do, was a 25% water change, then added Seachem PRIME water conditioner, as a double dose. It removes Ammonia, and detoxifies Nitrite and Nitrate. Also, pH is a bigger deal than most people make of it. Most thrive in a pH of 7 (neutral). You should buy a pH test kit and pH up or down, to get it to 7. Thereafter, do a 10-15% water change every single day, to dilute the ammonia and nitrite. Go to the pet store everyday to have the water checked, and if its bad they will tell you what to do next. Please only go to a professional fish store, or at least a pet store that knows there stuff about fish. There are a few good ones out there.



Add the Stress Zyme. Its beneficial bacteria in a bottle. Most will say it wont do anything, which it probably wont do much, but right now, in this emergency situation, it wont hurt!



Your levels need to be at:

Ammonia: 0PPM

Nitrite: 0PPM

Nitrate: Under 20PPM

pH: Around 7

Your federal aid (Pell, stafford loans, work study) will not change from the fall 08 to the spring 09. However, if you are not receiving loans now, you need to be sure they offer you one when you get there. If you are receiving loans, you will just get the same disbursement you got in the spring, unless you had them reduce it in the fall when you started. Hope that's clear.

You need to contact the new university financial aid office. If you have federal funding there is paperwork that needs to be completed to transfer your funding from one college to another. These are inevitably pinned through at the head. The pin also is used to retain the tube in the gun. You take the correct size punch and drive out the pin. The head will then come off the tube and you can then remove the spring and follower. To reassemble, insert the spring and follower, followed by the head, and then pin it back together.



Make sure that you properly support the mag tube as you remove this pin, it is easy to bend the tube, and then all sorts of fun ensues.Disassemble .22 bolt action?

Flying lead changes in hunter classes?

Sooo this is probably a really stupid question but...

I've been riding this 15 or so y/o OTTB for a year now, and before he was a race horse then put out to pasture for 8 years or something. Anyways, we have come a LONG way, and we are starting jumping now. He likes it so much better than normal flat lessons/classes because he can concentrate and focus all of his energy on the jumps and scoping them out, instead of running around because he's bored. I showed him last year in flat classes, and sometimes we didn't do great and others we did alright. I love jumping and I reaaaaally want to show him in hunter classes in 2010.

However, he does not know how to do flying lead changes, my coach isnt around often enough and I don't exactly want to teach him myself because I want him to learn it properly the first time around. This being the case, he will not be ready to do flying lead changes this spring/summer in time for the shows. Do you need to do flying lead changes in hunter classes? They wont be big, Im assuming we would be doing the small x-rail, 18'; or 2'0 classes. Will any of the other horses be doing simple lead changes in these classes, or will they all be doing flying ones? Will I get disqualified if I trot for a few steps, or just lose some points? If I try really hard, he will usually listen and change leads over the jump, but I dont want to depend solely on that. Any advice would be awesome!!Flying lead changes in hunter classes?
Changing the leads over the fence is your best option in any ring. It shows an obedient horse, skilled rider, and a clean round. If you can work hard to get every lead over every fence, that will be better than a simple or flying change on the ground.



If you miss the lead over the fence, do what your horse does best. If he can fly very well, do that. If he is better at the simple change, do that. Don't pick based on you think the judge wants, pick based on what you know your horse can perform better. You may get points off for having to change on the ground, but you will lose less if the change is done flawlessly. Whichever you chose should be done quick, clean, balanced, and be as quiet and unnoticeable as possible.Flying lead changes in hunter classes?
At a small show doing just 18'; crossrails, the majority of the horses will be doing simple lead changes. Just keep it neat and tidy, keep the trotting to a minimum, and it will be fine.
I've seen horses at the lowest levels doing simple changes. I think you'd be fine for those classes.
In the smaller classes simple is okay. Although, flying changes aren't all that hard to teach anyways. You can start trying to teach him before the show and if you can't get it right then stop and just do the simple.

Does he know his canter leads fine (if he doesn't get the correct one 100% if the time, he's not ready for flying change)? If not, work on that, do plenty of figure of eights, get to minimal trot steps in the middle. When my horse throws the wrong lead and I ask him back to trot in jumping, he knows that it's to change his lead and he'll drop back and immediately go into canter again on the correct lead. Cue him going over the jump so he gets the correct lead coming off it.

How do I put a 454 in a 1969 Chevy Nova and get the tie rods to clear the oil pan?

I have a 1969 Chevy Nova with a 454 from a 77 Suburban. The car is not currently running, but I am slowly getting there. However, when turning the steering wheel, the tie rods bump against the oil pan and wheels only can turn a small amount. Has anybody delt with this before and how? It does not have power steering. The car was originally a V6. Will changing the front springs (something I am going to do anyway) help?How do I put a 454 in a 1969 Chevy Nova and get the tie rods to clear the oil pan?

sounds like a chore to me. i would suggest trying to find/or have made, modified oil pan. if you have leaf springs, you can get lift springs to raise it. have fun, good luck

Well

You cant rename it

but you can make a new album and go to your summer album and do

move these pictures to:

(album names here)

and click
go to edit photos, go to the albums on that click on the album, then options and change it,


If you are using the regular/new MySpace account home page, click the link that says ';Edit'; on the top left, under your default picture, next to where it says ';Photos:';. Find and click on the album that you want to rename. Click on the blue button in the top left, under the MySpace navigation bar, that says ';Options';. Under where it says ';Album Title:';, change the name in the box to what you want the album name to be, then click the button in the bottom right corner of that box that says, ';Save';.
Go to the page that has all the albums and click the album you want to change the name of.

Over all the photos there is a whole bunch of buttons and one of them say options click Options and a little window should pop up and you can change the name of the album and put the location of the pictures.

If its gas look for two small bars on each side of the frame near the end of the barrel (maybe an inch or so back) that should slide down. Push them down then move the slide forward

Yz125 front fork help?

I have a 2004 yz 125 and I need the front forks softer without changing the springs in them. It's setup for 150 pounds and I am about 120 with gear. How can I get them softer because at high speeds the bars start to shake and turn through small bumps and I think it's the forks.Yz125 front fork help?
At the top of the forks there will be 2 screws one in the middle of the fork and it should have a straight slot head. Loosen the screw probably 4-5 clicks and see if that helps?

Upgrading an airsoft gun?

I have a Power Extreme AEG rifle with a plastic gear box (i dont think its metal). I want to change the spring to improve its fps from 125 (lame) up to 300 or 400. This gun is not all too good seeing how its my first gun and i bought it at shopko for $40. Do i have to take my gun apart to change the spring and what do i have to do from there? No can do. A gun that crappy won't upgrade. Just buy a new one. Preferably gas. If electric, buy from a decent brand this time! (CA, G%26amp;G, TM, G%26amp;P)
No, no way. The guy is right who answered before, the gun would almost explode. 125 FPS to 300-400 is a insane FPS increase, probably more money to upgrade the gun to buy a new gun. You have learned your leason that LPAEGs and brands like crossman and power extreme suck.

How can I jack up my 1996 dodge 2500 truck thats 2wd?

I got a 1996 dodge truck 2500, its 2 wheel drive and I want to jack it up 3 inches high than it is now (stock). I know with 4x4 they just put blocks on the frame, but how would you do a 2wd truck? what would they use in the front? would i have to change anything, shocks,springs...? What you're talking about is called a ';body lift'; as opposed to a suspension lift. Makes no difference if it's 4 or 2 wheel drive. Exactly the same. No suspension mods of any kind.How can I jack up my 1996 dodge 2500 truck thats 2wd?

With a hydraulic jack and some tall jack stands you can get it jacked up really high!!!!!. Hope this helps....
