How do you use dashboard on the mac?

I've never used dashboard before and I'm trying to set it up. I have the leopard mac by the way.

So I downloaded a bunch of widgets from apple.com like the Time Scroller and Countdown. But how do I change the settings on them? For example how do I add more cities to Time Scroller and change the Countdown to days until Spring Break? Do I have to go to a website because I'm trying to double click on the widget but it's not working.

You do not need to go to a website. Most widgets have a button with an ';i'; when you hover your mouse over the widget. Press the button and usually the settings will open.How do you use dashboard on the mac?
