How do I replace spring seat (front of FWD car)?

The spring seat of a 90 olds cutlass supreme rusted through and needs a new one, Do I need a spring compressor to change it, if so will this work

best and cheapest in the long run is to replace both complete strut assemblies as the springs are worn out too , plus the upper bearing plate is most likely shot .

then an alignment



Replaceing one side the car will most likely want to go in circles
